Car and Toy Museum Boxenstop (Auto- und Spielzeugmuseum Boxenstop)
Big cars, small cars, old-timers, race cars and sports cars, children's pedal cars – whoever is a fan of cars and motorcycles, will find what his heart desires at this museum (Auto- und Spielzeugmuseum Boxenstop). But not only friends of cars and other motorized vehicles will be delighted, since the collection comprises also more than 1,000 precious toys and miniature steam engines, model planes and ships, steam tractors, toys made of sheet metal, wood, porcelain, celluloid and plastic. Taking a guided tour is worthwhile and quite entertaining.
The Boxenstop is not only a museum, but also a meeting point for all those who like antique toys and old-timers. Every year on January 6 the so-called "steam-day" takes place: Everybody brings her or his steam engine to fire up and steam together. The last weekend in September of each year is reserved for the "Retromotor", one of the biggest old-timer festivals. 200 to 300 participants regularly visit this festival in their old cars and on their antique motorcycles.
